About the Assessor's Office
When it comes to property assessments in Fairfield County, the Assessor's Office is your primary resource. The office is responsible for appraising all real estate and mobile homes for tax purposes and maintaining accurate property ownership records within the guidelines of the South Carolina Code of Laws.
- The Assessor's Office is also responsible for a number of important functions, including:
- Processing applications for the Legal Residence Discount (4%) and agricultural use special assessments.
- Maintaining tax maps and the online Geographic Information System (GIS) data.
- Handling the appeal process for property values.
The office does not handle vehicle, boat, or other personal property taxes, nor does it collect property tax payments.
