Fairfield County Herman W. Young Building Dedication Ceremony
Winnsboro, SC— March 13, 2023 — Fairfield County Council will hold a dedication ceremony to rename the Fairfield County Detention Center to the Herman W. Young Fairfield County Detention Center.

On April 22, 2022, Fairfield County Council passed Ordinance Number 790 to rename the Fairfield County Detention Center after deceased, Sheriff Herman Young. The Honorable Mr. Young served as Fairfield County Sheriff for twenty-two years. Mr. Young served as the President of the Sheriff’s Association from 2011 – 2012 and was awarded the S.C. Order of the Palmetto in 2015 for his 62 years of service in law enforcement.
