USNRC Annual Assessment Public Meeting for V.C. Summer Nuclear Station

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) will hold a public meeting to discuss the annual assessment of the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station. This is an important opportunity to learn about the plant's safety performance and interact with NRC staff.

Meeting Details

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. It will be held at the Lake Monticello Recreation Center, located at 7104 SC Highway 215-S, Jenkinsville, SC.

According to a press release from the NRC, staff responsible for plant inspections will be available to answer questions after a short presentation on the plant's performance. The NRC concluded that the V.C. Summer plant operated safely throughout 2024, with all inspection findings categorized as having very low safety significance.

For those unable to attend in person, the NRC also offers a virtual option to join the meeting via Microsoft Teams or by phone. We encourage all interested community members to attend and get involved.
