Rescue Squad Members Recognized

Fairfield County’s First Responders train for moments they hope will never come—moments when every second carries the weight of a life. They rehearse, prepare and commit themselves to readiness so that when the unthinkable happens, hesitation is never an option.

On New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2025, that moment arrived. Fairfield County EMS and the Fairfield County Rescue Squad were dispatched for what was reported as a possible stroke emergency. When Rescue Squad members Megan Brown and Tavaris Brown arrived on scene, they quickly realized the situation was even more critical: the patient was in cardiac arrest. Without pause, Megan and Tavaris moved into action. Drawing on their meticulous training, steady teamwork and unwavering focus, they delivered lifesaving care, reviving and stabilizing the patient until Fairfield County EMS arrived to continue treatment. In those critical minutes, their skill and confidence made all the difference.

Because of their immediate and decisive actions, a life was saved. In recognition of this extraordinary effort, Fairfield County EMS proudly presented Megan and Tavaris Brown—a husband-and-wife team—with an Appreciation Award for their heroism and dedication. Their response exemplifies the very best of public service: preparedness, courage,
and compassion when it matters most. Congratulations to Megan and Tavaris Brown, Fairfield County Rescue Squad, Fairfield County EMS and Fairfield County Dispatch for making a difference and guaranteeing life in a true life-or-death moment.
