Fairfield County Recognizes the Life & Legacy of Mrs. Shryll Ann Brown
At the January 12th, 2026 Fairfield County Council meeting, Fairfield County Council recognized the family of Mrs. Shryll Ann Brown with a proclamation celebrating her life and legacy .
HONORING THE LIFE & LEGACY OF
MRS. SHRYLL ANN BROWN
WHEREAS, Mrs. Shryll A. Brown was born on September 13, 1953 in Columbia, SC to Mr. Hannie D. Milling, Sr. and the late Johnnie Mae Murphy Milling; and
WHEREAS, her spiritual life began at Wayman AME Church and she later worshipped faithfully at Old Hope Station and Hassion Hill Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, her education came by way of Fairfield County Public Schools and she continued her studies at Columbia College; and
WHEREAS, her professional career began as a secretary in Fairfield County Schools and she later supported families during bereavement at Russell McCutchen Funeral Home; and
WHEREAS, in 1992, Mrs. Brown started what would become a 24-year mission of dedicated service as the Fairfield County Clerk to Council. During this time, she graduated from the South Carolina Clerks to County Council Certification Program and served as President of the South Carolina Clerks to County Council Association, as well as other leadership roles; and
WHEREAS, she touched the lives of everyone she encountered and her relationship with God shaped her character and her compassion; and
WHEREAS, her legacy is one of service, faith, grace and beauty. She led with a quiet and steady strength; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that Chairman Clarence Gilbert, District 7, and the members of the Fairfield County Council, would like to honor the memory of MRS. SHRYLL ANN BROWN. Your contributions to our County and beyond will never be forgotten.
