Fairfield County Names Deputy Administrator

At the August 25th, 2025 Fairfield County Council Meeting, County Administrator Vic Carpenter announced the Deputy Administrator job was offered and accepted. Public Works Director, Jonathan Burroughs, was named the new Fairfield County Deputy Administrator; Burroughs has been with the County for 5 years.

Burroughs has a wealth of leadership knowledge and experience having served the past 5 years as the Director of Public Works, as well as previous experience in the school system as a teacher, coach and academy leader. “I’m ready to take on this new position because of the challenge that it poses, as well as the great staff I get to work alongside. Mr. Carpenter has been a great inspiration in the past few months and I have already learned a lot from our short time working together. I’m excited about working with Mr. Carpenter and the entire staff to continue making Fairfield County a destination for residents, as well as visitors,” stated Burroughs.

“We’re ready to get started and we have a first 30, 60 and 90 day plan to get up to speed and work on significant policies, programs and improvements to the County. It’s humbling to be considered for this job, much less to be offered the position. As a staff, we work really hard and it’s nice to know your hard work is noticed by Administration, Council and Citizens that have entrusted me with this responsibility. The next 10 years in Fairfield County will not only be vital but prosperous for our community!”

Mr. Burroughs will be transitioning from his role as Director of Public Works to Deputy County Administrator over the next few weeks. Notice will go out this week in regards to the vacant Director of Public Works Position.
