Fairfield County Council Recognizes Ms. Agnes Gladden Woodard

Fairfield County Council Recognized Ms. Agnes Gladden Woodard for her 100th Birthday at the October 13th, 2025 Fairfield County Council Meeting, with a Proclamation. 

 

RECOGNIZING THE 100TH BIRTHDAY OF MS. AGNES GLADDEN WOODARD

WHEREAS, Ms. Ages G. Woodard was born September 2, 1925 in the Mitford Community of Winnsboro, SC to Rev. Alfred Sr. and Adia G. Gladden; and

WHEREAS, she was a lifelong learner and returned to school as an adult to obtain her high school diploma in 1974, which inspired others to believe in perseverance and personal growth; and 

WHEREAS, she was a devoted member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in her youth but after marrying James Woodard, Sr., she joined St. Mark Baptist Church; and 

WHEREAS, there, she served faithfully as a member of the Missionary Board and the Charity Workers of Ridgeway and as a beloved mother leader, she ultimately became the church’s oldest church mother ; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Woodard, in these roles, continued to provide spiritual guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support to women and families within the congregation and beyond, offering wisdom and encouragement drawn from her own life experiences; and

WHEREAS, her volunteerism reached far past the church as she regularly visited nursing homes, widows, neighbors and beyond ensuring those around her felt valued, supported and loved ; and

WHEREAS, her quiet strength, generosity and love in action leaves a legacy of nurturing, encouragement and steadfast devotion that continues to bless those who know her; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that Chairman Clarence Gilbert, District 7, and the members of the Fairfield County Council, would like to recognize the 100th birthday of MS. AGNES GLADDEN WOODARDWe pray that God will forever hold you in the palm of His hand and bless you today and forevermore.
