Fairfield County Adopts Strategic Plan

During its meeting on May 11, 2026, Fairfield County Council officially adopted a new Strategic Plan designed to guide the County’s short- and long-term growth, development and priorities over the next five years.

Fairfield County engaged MRB Group to develop the county-wide strategic plan through a comprehensive process that included reviewing previous plans and data, assessing past strategies, conducting stakeholder interviews, facilitating public engagement sessions and gathering community feedback through a public survey.

The Strategic Plan includes both a detailed two-year action plan and a broader five-year strategic framework that will help guide future annual work plans during years three through five of implementation. To ensure transparency and accountability, the County will also utilize a web-based “Implementation Progress Dashboard” to monitor and track progress on strategic initiatives and goals.

As part of the planning process, six Community Input Sessions were held throughout Fairfield County. These sessions were led by the MRB Group with support from Fairfield County Administration and County Council. The meetings created opportunities for residents, County leaders and stakeholders to engage in meaningful conversations about the County’s immediate needs and long-term vision for the future.

County officials emphasized that public participation played a critical role in shaping the Strategic Plan and ensuring that the priorities identified reflect the needs and goals of Fairfield County residents.

The adoption of the Strategic Plan marks an important step forward in Fairfield County’s commitment to responsible growth, improved services, economic development and long-term community success.
