County Council Recognizes Ed Macarthur McCrory
At the December 8th, 2025 County Council meeting, Fairfield County Council recognized the life and legacy of Mr. Ed Macarthur McCrory.
A proclamation was issued to the family of Mr. McCrory:
HONORING THE LIFE & LEGACY OF
MR. ED MACARTHUR MCCRORY
WHEREAS, Mr. Ed. M. McCrory was born September 30, 1942 in Fairfield County to the late Eddie and Laura Cason McCrory; and
WHEREAS, he received his high school diploma in 1961 and immediately joined the United States Army, where he served in Germany and Yugoslavia. He was honorably discharged in 1964; and
WHEREAS, his early employment included positions with Uniroyal and International Paper Company and in 1971, he began his career with the South Carolina Department of Corrections; and
WHEREAS, with his understanding of the importance of education regarding advancement, he enrolled at Palmer Junior College and received and Associate of Science in Criminal Justice & Police/Correctional Administration in 1973. Continuing his education journey, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 1975; and
WHEREAS, Mr. McCrory’s education was rewarded with numerous promotions and recognitions. With that, he continued his education and received a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University in 1994, which afforded him the opportunity to become an Adjunct Professor in Management & Criminology for Claflin University from 1997-2001; and
WHEREAS, after retirement in 2002, he was solicited by Fairfield County Council as a consultant for the Fairfield County Detention Center and was later named the Director of the facility. Coming out of retirement a second time in 2013, he formed Ed McCrory Logistics, his trucking company dedicated to logging & freight of all kinds; and
WHEREAS, his legacy is one of service, faith, & commitment to his family, church, community and this Country; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that Chairman Clarence Gilbert, District 7, and the members of the Fairfield County Council, would like to honor the memory of MR. ED MACARTHUR MCCRORY. Your impactful contributions to our County and our Country will forever be remembered.
