Payroll Coordinator

Salary: $54,000 - $60,000 Annual Salary - based on experience

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs a variety of payroll functions including collecting and verifying time worked in the County’s automated payroll system, insures correct overtime and leave time pay rates are applied correctly, submitting payroll information to Finance Director for approval, submit electronic transactions to financial institutions, compiles payroll reports for submittal to Federal and State government agencies, ensures accuracy in record keeping and complies with various related Federal and State requirements.

Runs various monthly/quarterly/annual payroll reports and processes same to include verifying accuracy, transmitting, obtaining authorized signatures, copying and filing.

Maintains confidential payroll and employee records on all present and former employees. Reconciles insurance payments, receipts and billings. Ensures payroll deductions are accurately and as prescribed.

Maintains vacation and sick leave accruals and processes leave payouts.

Interacts with County employees to make changes in payroll deductions.

Interprets and applies County policies and other local, state and federal regulations affecting payroll procedures. Prepares state and federal reports as necessary.

Provides administrative support to the Finance Director and the Department as needed; prepares and types various reports, forms, and correspondence; sends faxes; responds to employee inquiries in an appropriate timely manner; disseminates information as appropriate.

Attends training sessions in order to abreast of federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Performs other duties as required.

Maintains regular and sustained attendance.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Associates degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or closely related field, and two to three years of experience in payroll administration or related field; and experience in automated time management software, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
