Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Supervises activities of inmates.
  • Inspects the facility to ensure that they meet security and safety standards.
  • Conducts searches of the facility for rule violations.
  • Books detainees.
  • Enters arrest information in to automated system.
  • Monitors cameras to ensure the safety of inmates, Officers/Sheriff and civilians.
  • Answers phone calls from the public regarding inmates and Detention procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of documents and reports in the performance of the job such as the daily record log, booking reports, medication logs, incident reports, visitors log, property forms, medical forms, transportation log, etc. 
  • Maintains records on whereabouts of inmates at all times.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

            High School Graduation or GED equivalent. Six (6) years of law enforcement or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.  Must complete PR-24 certification, basic jail certification, CPR certification, and standard first aid certification.
