ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Listens to comments, complaints, and questions from constituents and handles same pursuant to instructions from relevant legislator, including researching, making telephone calls, drafting correspondence, and other related tasks.

Attends, records, and prepares minutes for all Joint Delegation meetings and committee meetings.

Processes all Notary Public applications.

Prepares and administers the Delegation budget.

Maintains Commission and Board appointment lists, prepares appointment correspondence, advertises for appointment applicants, and reviews applications and qualifies applicants.

Researches and informs delegation on various topics that are germane to the legislative process.

Prepares correspondences, reports, lists and other documents as required by the delegation.

Responds to questions, comments, and requests in a courteous, timely manner.

Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.

Attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions and reviews materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas.

Communicates regularly with the Administrative Assistants for the Senator and House member in the Fairfield County Legislative Delegation. Assists these two offices in work pertaining to local county needs.

Communicates and coordinates regularly with others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.

Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification.

Knowledge

Comprehensive knowledge of the legislative process and the inner workings of state and local government;

Comprehensive knowledge of current principles and practices associated with public administration;

Comprehensive knowledge of general administrative and management policies and procedures;

Substantial knowledge of leading and supervising others within County guidelines; 

Skills

Skilled in leadership and supervisory skills.

Skilled in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing.

Skilled in preparing correspondences according to standard business practices.

Skilled in operating a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

A combination of experience and/or training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

SCHEDULE/HOURS

Schedule will vary depending on the needs of the department. Approximately 20 hours per week.
